Central Coast Mitts

Here is my latest quick project inspired by the sunny California central coast. I knit these fingerless mittens using soft bright yellow hand spun/hand dyed wool. I love the subtle striping and stitch variation from using hand spun  yarn. The sea blue cuffs are knit with my old stand by Berroco Ultra Alpaca which is a blend of wool and alpaca.

I've also had to say goodbye to my squarespace url so I'll be spiffying up my new blogspot home whenever I have a free moment.

Seattle Scarf Pattern

I named this scarf after the amazing city where I bought the yarn. The tiny eyelet cables compliment the yarn perfectly and make the scarf fun and feminine. It's super soft and stretchy and can be wrapped tightly and tucked into itself or worn traditionally. I love this pattern because it looks fancy but it is super easy and it only takes about 200 yards of worsted weight yarn.

Meadowsweet Mitts Pattern

Meadowsweet is an herb that grows in damp meadows that has small flowers and irregular branches. These mitts are a match for the Meadowsweet Beret. I love these mitts because they can be knit with a relatively small amount of yarn ( approximately 100 yards).  These are stretchy with a snug fit. I have made these with heavy worsted weight handspun yarn which turned out adorable. The guage is flexible so many different types and slight variations in yarn weight will work for these. This is an easy intermediate pattern but I recommend some experience knitting in the round with double pointed needles. The mitts will be half an inch longer than the sample photos.

Sizing:
Cuff circumference stretches to 7 inches.
Length measures 7.5 inches.

Materials needed:
Approximately 100 yards of Berroco Ultra Alpaca or worsted weight yarn.
Size 4 double pointed needles.
Size 8 double pointed needles.
Tapestry needle.
2 stitch markers.
Scrap yarn.
